How to restore/fix Market on Samsung Galaxy S after 2.2 Froyo update

16/10/2010

Ok, so it seems that the current version of the 2.2 Froyo update for the Galaxy S removes the Market application for some users. Fortunately, this is very easy to fix.

If you have Astro or another file manager installed:

  • Go to the folder /system/app and then select and install Vending.apk

If you do not have a file manager installed:

  • Download the SDK if you do not already have it.
  • Go into the tools subfolder of your SDK-directory.
  • Run “adb pull /system/app/Vending.apk” to copy the Market application from the phone.
  • Finally, run “adb install Vending.apk” to install the application.

After reinstalling the Market application, I initially had some problems with it crashing. This was solved by rebooting the phone, and Market has worked perfect since then.
